How to Get Higher Marks at Your Next Dance Competition

"How to Get Higher Marks at Your Next Dance Competition"," I want every dancer, no matter what age or ability you are, to do and feel your best on stage.
but you'll only become a better performer and dancer if you listen to our feedback.
 LOOK UP!

Keep your focus OFF the floor please.
Be proud and confident, and look at your judges and audience.
Show us that you enjoy performing and love dance, and you'll get more points for your stage presence.
 RELAX.
Before you get on stage, take a few deep breaths.
Think of how hard you've worked to get to this point, and pat yourself on the back.
"" It works, you'll see! Once you're on stage, relax your shoulders and release tension in your neck.

So you're in a large group.
A straight line is a straight line.

- TWO: Perfect your arms, hands, feet and body positions in a group.
Even if choreography is simple, making sure your body movements are as exact as your dance partner is a sure way to higher marks.
What does that mean? This is more advanced, but it's simple.
For example: in your lyrical group, everyone is performing to an imaginary person downstage right.
Think of your dances as movies, and you're always looking and having a conversation with a real person.
So many times, dancers think they can get away with being sloppy, forgetting steps or just faking their dance because they're in the back.
In fact, the back row is sometimes more important than the front- especially when in formations.
So if you're holding down the back, pay special attention to details.

Dance to feel great

"Dance For Fitness And Feel Great"," One is that it has to be dull.
Finally, contrary to popular belief, even non-athletes might actually enjoy a workout when framed around the idea of fun.

In fact, it could be that your lifestyle already includes an element of fitness.
Ideally your body needs around half an hour of consistent movement to feel the benefits.

Many moves have become popular of late.
Still others benefit particular areas of the body in obvious ways.
The great thing is that individuals can start at any time and continue until they are very old, though feeling young thanks to the salsa.
Just turn on the radio or CD player and get moving.
Just once in a while with friends is not good enough to cause significant difference in your body strength or appearance.

You may want to ask at one of your local fitness centers if they are hosting any classes.
They have caught-on that aerobics classes alone will not inspire that hard-to-reach group of clients who hate exercise.

Another option is a dance studio.
Though not strictly dance classes with performance in mind, one can still pick-up a few moves while sweating and laughing.
Ballroom may get your husband off of the sofa too.
Putting dance instruction onto DVD for personal home viewing has opened-up an avenue for many shy individuals.

Endure less pressure and confusion: consider renting or buying some of the tapes made by fitness figures.
Some will even invite trained dancers who have taken Toronto salsa classes for some helpful demonstrations.

THIS COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE AND GIVE YOU PEACE OF MIND

Kerala Dance Forms

"Kerala Dance Forms"," Some Kerala dance forms like Kathakali is world renowned, and a dance form Koodiyattom is recognized by UNESCO as human heritage art.
He described 'navarasangal' or the nine emotions viz.
Kerala dance forms seem to draw a narrow line between male and female performers.
Kathakali is considered the art of Gods, and epical episodes are performed as a play.
Expression of emotions and narration is based on 'Mudras' or hand signals, and facial expression of navarasa, the nine emotions.

The costumes are heavy and it almost takes a full day to complete the make-up process.

Mohiniyattom: This Kerala dance form literally means the dance of an enchantress.
Attired with white or ivory dress with golden borders, the dancer takes a majestic look.
The origin of Mohiniyattom is attributed to Lord Vishnu, who impersonated as Mohini (an enchanting woman) to seduce Asuras and take back Amrit, the medicine that gives immortality from them.

Koothu (Chakyar Koothu): This Kerala dance form is performed only in selected place called Koothambalam associated with Kerala temples.
Only members of the 'Chakyar' caste perform this.
It is an offering to deity.

Theyyam: There are more than 300 variations for this Kerala dance form, which is characterized by the praising of Goddess for her victory over evil forces.
The headgear and attire are both colorful and attractive.
This is a dance performed by women on Thiruvathira day of the Malayalam month, Dhanu.
It is believed to bring blessings to their family life.
Rathi Devi successfully made a case with Lord Shiva to give Kamadeva his life.

Oppana: This dance form is the peculiarity of Malabar Muslim weddings in Kerala.
The songs are usually called as Mappilappattu.
Oppana is a performed as a stage item also.
Kolkali literally means playing with stick.
The dancers harmoniously move around in circles, form different combinations, dance and rhythmically strike two short sticks.

Krishnanattom : Krishnanattom is almost an extinct dance form of Kerala.
Krishanattom as the name suggests is the play on the life of Lord Sri Krishna.

Exhibiting Emotional Intelligence While Under Pressure

"Exhibiting Emotional Intelligence While Under Pressure"," A dance teacher demonstrated extremely high skills, managing her emotions during a difficult situation.
My wife took lessons there, as did my daughter.
So this is a third-generation dance family.
My wife and I have been ""helpers"" for many years.
I'm up front, selling tickets and then I go backstage to watch the performance and make sure the area is clear of those who are not supposed to be there.
The teacher whose group is performing stands behind the main curtain so the children can see her but the audience cannot.

The 3-year old dancers are my favorite.
This year one of the dance teacher's three-year old daughter was performing for the first time.
Nothing was going to get her to go on stage.
But the little girl was firm.

The teacher's actions for the remainder of the program where inspiring.
She patiently, calmly and lovingly managed her daughter and the other dancers.

On our trip home, my wife and I discussed what could have happened if the teacher had not managed her emotions so well.
A negative experience such as this might have caused the little girl to refuse to dance in future recitals or avoid other stage experiences.
The impact of that choice can be both immediate and long-term.

"Dance the Weight Away"

"Dance the Weight Away"," The very next day I remember stepping out of the shower, being startled, and wondering who was that in the room with me! And why is she naked! And between you and me the last time I saw a butt that big it had a tail and udders. OMG! That's MY BIRTHMARK! I spun around gasping, took another look and thought, yep, there's the udders. Besides it's better for my ego that way. I mean it's like your head no more than hits the pillow and BUZZZZ the alarm goes off. Over the next couple of weeks I went to different gyms and health clubs only to walk away more depressed than when I walked in. I've raised 4 children, I'm raising 3 grandchildren and I have been a critical care nurse for over 16 years. What was the difference between the me of 20 years ago and the me now. Dancing! Like I said before I used to go dancing almost every night. I never worried about what I ate or going to the gym because every night I'd just dance the weight away. I mean it fun right!?! So I started looking at the benefits of dancing and exactly what type of dancing could really help to shed the weight and tone up. They all involve you moving your body from head to toe. The reason I found those dances to be best is because you can start with a gentle, toned down version of the dance and build up quickly to the full blown, hopping around, shimmy shaking, hip grinding, sexy dance. it is sexy. I know it does me. And I'm having fun doing it! So if you want to have fun shedding those extra pounds and getting toned up. , Dance the Weight Away! . THIS IS WHAT YOU GET TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT
